The quote from the great beach volleyball player Adrian Carambula about the technique of his signature serve:
In most cases, I prefer using the skyball to disrupt my opponent's rhythm. The essence of this serve is that you shouldn't strain your body; on the contrary, it's crucial to stay as relaxed as possible. I simply leave myself somewhat in the dark and then just hit the ball.
This is essentially a part of my game, my special move, as players are usually not prepared to receive such serves. It's a natural motion for me, and I know all I need to do is toss the ball up, feel the wind, my body, and then everything unfolds naturally. I never obsess over the technique; my body naturally finds the right motion.
One thing that nobody taught me, and I arrived at it on my own, is that if you want to do something similar, make it feel natural for you. Don't try to replicate every single one of my moves precisely because it may not work for you personally.
